Boy oh boy, it’s been a weekend. Such a weekend that I didn’t have the energy to write this post for Monday. But I’m here now!!
So this past weekend, I took Friday off to run some errands and spend some time with friends I rarely see. Even though it was a three day weekend for me, I got absolutely no extra sleep.
Friday morning I got up early and went to some appointments. After that I went to Whole Foods to meet up with friends for dinner (because Whole Foods has THE BEST dinner bar). They were stuck in traffic for a while, so I got to spend some time reading and catching up on my #shereadstruth. It was wonderful to have a small break in the busyness to read. Plus I desperately needed some coffee.
Once my friends got there we may have accidentally ended up eating three dinners… Like BOSSES. (Part of Dinner #2 can be seen below). We also got to see a show, and just hang out enjoying rack others company. It was magic.
Late that night my good friend, Kayleigh, got into town for a wedding and we stayed up waaaay to late talking.
The next morning we drove into the city to pick up our other friend, Kelly, and then used our remaining time to primp. Once we got all prettied up, we headed to the wedding.
It was a beautiful, Christ-centered wedding and it was so much fun to see our friend walk down the aisle.
Between the wedding and the reception we hit up a coffee shop and then headed out for the dance party!!
The reception was awesome. Kayleigh caught the bouquet, or half caught it. She and another guest ended up catching it at the same time and splitting it up. The festivities got out around 11, at which point we went to a nearby bar for a glass of wine. I hadn’t been with these girls for a long time, and it was so great just to catch up.
We got home around 2 (VERY late for my old lady bones) and got to bed around 3.
The next morning I took Kayleigh to a local breakfast establishment where I had a MACARONI AND CHEESE AND BACON OMELETTE. GUYS. SERIOUSLY.
After that we hit up the target (I may have maybe still needed a Father’s Day gift…) and then Kayleigh had to hit the road.
And then I collapsed for the nap time.
Three hours later I got up and went to celebrate Father’s Day at my dad’s favorite restaurant. Then it was back home, bath, the Fault in Our Stars (I’m trying to prepare my heart to be WRECKED by this book) and bed.
It was a wonderful and very tiring weekend. I’m spending this week trying to catch up on sleep before this weekend when Katie and I will drive to Florida. Oh boy.
Don’t forget about our giveaway Internet!!
Hey Internet, since I spent so much of Sunday recovering from Six Flags and Monday was dedicated to Bible Study, I didn’t really have it in my to put out a new post for Tuesday Tea, but since it is summer and summer is Disney season, I thought I would repost an old favorite of mine that I wrote in Disney World last year. It is a bit of a Hot Mess Express, which is why I love it. Hope you enjoy:
So today my mom and I TOTALLY BEASTED IT OUT in Disney. And by beasted it out I mean we got there at 8 am, right when it opened and did all of the following things before our 6:00 dinner:
Journey of the Little Mermaid
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Pirates of the Caribbean
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Carousel of Progress
Tomorrowland Transit Authority
Lunch in the Beast’s Castle
Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
Got Starbucks (THE MAGIC KINGDOM HAS A STARBUCKS NOW!!!!)
Watched the 3 o’clock parade
The Country Bear Jamboree
The Enchanted Tiki Room
The Hall of Presidents
Some light shopping and
The Castle Show
So yeah, we were kind of AWESOME!
Anyway after we ate we settled in to holding our seats for the 4th of July fireworks (yes. I know it’s the 3rd. They do them all week.)
So we sit on the ground and it starts drizzling and we mention to the woman sitting next to us that we didn’t bring ponchos cuz they are such a pain and its easier to just get wet.
Then it starts POURING and I start screaming “THIS ISN’T EASIER! THIS ISN’T EASIER”
And my mom is all “GO BUY US PONCHOS NOW!!!!”
So I do.
And that is when I became a crazy poncho lady.
Except to buy the poncho I had to run down Mainstreet USA and I got totally soaked anyway. I was wearing a maxi skirt (floor length for you non-existent men reading this) and it was super soaked and heavy and awful.
So when I got back to our fireworks spot I thought “I am wearing leggings under this horribly wet skirt…”
And that’s when I became a crazy poncho lady wearing leggings as pants.
And then we watch the fireworks and they are AMAZING and we leave the park and skip the parade because we are SO SOAKING WET still.
We get on the bus back to our resort and my mom asks if I had heard from my friend/cat sitter Marcie. I hadn’t so I call her. This is how the conversation starts:
Me: Are my cats dead?
Then I hear someone kind of laugh.
And that is when I realized that I had become the crazy poncho lady wearing leggings as pants. On a bus. Talking about possibly dead cats.
That is also when I realized that there is no such thing ad dignity when visiting a theme park. Because you can totally have the best, most beastly theme park day ever, but that won’t stop you from making a fool of yourself on a bus.
And that is basically how life works.
And, also my cats are not dead. Thanks for asking.
Also I spent 14 hours in a theme park today after only getting 3 hours of sleep last night and I typed this on my phone, so there are probably a million typos all up in this post. Sorry about that. I’d proof read but I am too tired to care right now.
Ever have a day like that internet? If you have been to a theme park I’m betting you have… Or maybe you haven’t and it is just me.. Either way it’s cool.
