Christmas Recap

Hey Internet! So I’m here (better late than never) to share with you about my Christmas!

Things have been nutso around these parts since christmas – I went home for 4 days, worked for 4 days, my mom came down here for 4 days, I worked for 2 days and then I spent 2 days DYING. And now here we are! My goal for this next semester/year is to post 2-3 times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays, and sometimes a bonus day on the weekends. So we will see how that goes.

But today I want to recap my Christmas visit home!

Christmas Recap

Day One

Day 1

So, This day I woke up at 4 am so my lovely roommate could drive me to the airport.  I was SUPER excited to be in the airport (See picture 1). I got into Chicago and spent the rest of the day with my mom doing last minute shopping and wrapping (not pictured) and then some of my best friends came over to hang out and eat pizza and watch me try desperately not to fall asleep after a super long day (see picture 3). It was magic and so nice to see these girls after so many months. I was so thankful they came out to see me on what was super short notice (totally my bad). They left a little after midnight and I hardcore passed out from exhaustion.

Day 1 Bonus

Bonus: Look at the shirt Old Roommate gave me! She knows me so well!

Day 2

Day 2

I didn’t take a lot of photos on day two, but it was great. I baked cookies with my mom, saw my second cousin and great aunt and then went to Wildfire (and AMAZING steakhouse) with my dad and step-mom. Then I wrapped some more presents and went to bed so the next day we could Christmas!

Day 3

Day 3

Day 3 was Christmas eve. My dad and step mom and I had coffee, coffee cake and opened presents (One thing I got was ALL the lip balm – very exciting). Then I got to see my friend Katie and her puppies!! It was so fun that I forgot to take pictures :(. We got some lunch and hung out at her apartment with the dogs for a while. It was so nice to see her.

After that she took me back to my dad’s and we headed out for dinner with the family. This was the first year we have eaten out on Christmas Eve, and we had a lot of fun!

After dinner I headed over to my mom’s parents’ house for Christmas.

Day 4

Day 4

Day 4 was Christmas!!! We had breakfast, opened presents and then had lunch. It was great to spend the day with my family before heading out that night to go back home. After I got home the roommates and I opened stockings. It was a magical Christmas, and even though I had to leave way too early, it was great to see all my family and so many friends. Not to mention that Santa was GOOD to me this year! In addition to a camera from my mom (it’s not a DSLR – I’m not ready to learn all that fancy-ness but it is way nicer than what I have been using (which in most cases has been my phone)), I also got a lot of other stuff. (just as a disclaimer, we go WAY overboard in my family. I am aware that this is crazy-pants.):

I think I’m going to highlight some of my favorites later this week, but for now lets just say I am one lucky lady.

What was your favorite part of Christmas?

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?

Hey Internet! Happy New Year!!! I would have loved to really sit down and reflect on the past year, but honestly I’ve been running around like a crazy person since before Christmas. It’s all been really good stuff, but I just haven’t gotten a chance to really look back.

So as I sit here in my mom’s hotel room (did I mention my mom is back in town this week? Like I said- crazy person.), with a mojito by my side and old fashioned Disney cartoons playing in the background, I do have a little time to breathe and think back on the past year.

If you had told me at the beginning of 2014 that I would be living in Florida within the year I would have had a hard time believing you. If you told me that I would move move down here without a job, I would have called you a crazy person, because I don’t leap. I’m not a leaper. If you had told me I would move down here to get a master’s degree in statistics I would have said “Stop trying to make fetch happen, mom. It’s not too going to happen.” But [redacted Justin Bieber reference] never say never. (Also I want to make it clear – I did this for me, not my mom or anybody else. I’m happy with my decision, which was mine. But my mom was very happy.) And if you had told me that I would be writing this blog post on my kindle on New Years Eve night, well that i totally would have believed.

Anyway. 2014. What a year. It was definitely hard at times. It was really good at other times. I learned a lot (and I’m not just talking about the calculus).  It started in Denver at the bestie’s wedding and it’s ending in a Disney hotel room. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m excited to see what 2015 brings. I don’t have any resolutions for the new year, but I have some goals. I want to continue to do
well in school. I want to make taking care of myself a bigger priority. I want to move out of the Titanic in August. I want to be intentional in my relationships –  both with God and with others. I want to blog more consistently.

So I’m trying this “Word of the Year” thing (because I like to shamelessly copy other bloggers) and say that my word of the year for 2015 is going to be “intentional.” I want to live intentionally instead of just floating along seeing what happens. Will I fail at this? Probably a lot. But I want to try. Because trying is important guys.

Anywhoozles, what are your goals for 2015? I want to know!

Merry Christmas!!

Hey Internet! I had grandiose plans to post the Titanic’s Christmas cards today (Yes. We did have Christmas cards. Yes. We did mail them out. Yes. Wet are three female roommates. What is your question?) unfortunately I am in an airport and am typing this on my phone. The Christmas card image is on my computer and without reliable wifi, I can’t share the magic that was our card. So I am going to post Holiday Fox and Joe Pecki’s Christmas card again. Because I have access to that.

Honestly this seems like a pretty apropo way to wish you a Merry Christmas. Especially considering I still have 7 or 8 cards to send out… #allidoiswin

Merry Christmas Internet! I hope it was merry and bright!

I’ll Be Home For Christmas

Hey Internet! I woke up at 4:00 this morning and the dulcet tones of Nelly’s Country Grammar are blaring through my head phones, which can mean only one thing – I am in an airport.

Because I’m going home!!!!… For four days… BUT I AM SO FLIPPIN EXCITED!!!! I’m probably going to be a little scarce over here until the new year. After I get back to Orlando, my mom comes into town again (YAY!!!) so I will be family-ing all over the place!

If you want updates in my life (because it is SO interesting) I have a serious Instagram obsession and you can follow me here.

Have a Merry Christmas Internet!!!

Christmas at the Titanic.

Hey Internet! Seeing as my words haven’t been working lately, I thought I would post pictures of our Christmas at the Titanic.

A Titanic Christmas 2

Some of my absolute favorite favorite Christmas memories are centered around Christmas decorating, so this year I knew it was super important to make the apartment festive. My roommate and I went to Target and the dollar store really did a wonderful job I think. Above you can see our porthole mirrors that we made festive with dollar tree bows. And lights. So many lights! And our tree!

Tree Take 2

I really love our tree. Target had a buy two get one free ornament sale going on, so we were able to get some really great ornaments. We filled the rest of the tree out with baubles from Walmart and the dollar store, and the result was beautiful, if I do say so myself. We went for a red, gold and natural look – lots f woodland creatures, which I love. Themed trees are some of my favorite things and this is the first time I’ve ever really gotten to run with one solid theme..

Speaking of woodland creatures, meet Holiday Fox and Joe Pecki:

Holiday Fox and Joe Pecki 2

This is their Christmas card. They are best friends and they are awesome. Holiday Fox is a BAMF and Joe Pecki is his jumpy little side kick (Think the portrayal of Joe Pesci in Jersey Boys). They make me very very happy.

In that Christmas card you can also see my crocheting basket. I am making a hat!.. Maybe… We will see…

We also got stockings! Stockings are one of my favorite things! This year at the Titanic we are filling each others stockings, and I am kind of pumped for it. Of course, we couldn’t leave the cats out!!

And now we come to the Advent Calendars! I have three – One I made after reading this post from the brilliant Bex over at Butcher’s Niche. I love it a lot.

Advent Calandar

The second one I found on sale at a Target Starbucks and jumped at the chance – they had these last year and I gave one to the bestie, but have been secretly coveting one for myself ever since. So when I found it one sale I grabbed it as fast as I could!

Starbucks Advent

The third advent calendar is a card my om sent me. I love my mom so much. Every time she sends me anything (even if it is just something I asked her to send me from home) she sends a hallmark card ans I think it is just the sweetest thing.

Advent Card

Now for the crafts! I got this reindeer ornament at the dollar store and the frame at Walmart. I removed the glass from the frame and hot glued the reindeer to some Christmas paper I had Then I addend some gold glitter tape to the top and bottom and that was that!

Reindeer Craft

I also made this for our light switch. I am planning on doing a whole post on this and a few other things, but for now I will show it to you, because Christmas.

My roommate and I also did a puzzle… we meant to glue it together and frame it, but right now it lives on our table.

So those are the highlights of Christmas at the Titanic! What are your favorite Christmas decorations?
